Bonney Lake Summer 2026: The Weekly Rhythm At Allan Yorke Park And What's New On 410

If you already live in Bonney Lake, summer here is less a calendar and more a standing appointment. Wednesday night at Allan Yorke Park, Monday night at Allan Yorke Park, and, this year, one Sunday in late August when the park stops being a park and turns into a finish line again.

Wednesdays belong to Tunes at Tapps

The city's Tunes at Tapps series runs every Wednesday from July 8 to August 19, 2026 at Allan Yorke Park, 7203 W. Tapps Highway E. The market opens at 5 pm and the music runs 6:30 to 8 pm, which means you can pick up dinner from the vendors on the lawn and still be home before the sun is fully down over the lake.

Here's the 2026 lineup as posted by the city and Visit Pierce County:

ZZ Nation's set on July 15 leans into the classic Texas rock catalog, and Whiskey River the following Wednesday keeps the tribute theme going. Three dates are still TBD as of this writing, which is a feature rather than a bug for anyone who's been going for years. The lineup fills in through the season.

The market side of the evening is the underrated part. It's the closest thing Bonney Lake has to a weekly farmers market in July and August, and it's the reason to arrive at 5 rather than 6:30.

Monday nights are for Kids Club

The parallel series most out-of-towners miss is Kids Club, which the city runs Monday evenings from July 13 through August 17, 2026, also at Allan Yorke Park, also starting at 6:30. It's built for families with young kids who don't want to keep a five-year-old up until 8:30 for the Wednesday show.

Two standouts on the schedule:

• July 20: Highlight Quartet, a four-part harmony act mixing barbershop, contemporary songs, comedy, and audience participation.
• The season finale featuring Scott Peterson, "The Reptileman," sponsored by Molen Orthodontics, with snakes, lizards, turtles, and hands-on interaction.

If you have kids in the Sumner-Bonney Lake or Tahoma feeder areas, Kids Club is the low-effort weeknight plan that pays off. Bring a blanket, don't overthink dinner.

August 30 is different this year

The single biggest change to the Bonney Lake summer calendar in 2026 is that the Bonney Lake Triathlon returns Sunday, August 30, 2026. The race had been off the calendar and is back under Raise the Bar Racing as the closer of their three-race summer series, following Black Diamond in June and Lake Meridian in July.

For residents, three practical things follow from that.

First, Allan Yorke Park will be a competitor and spectator zone that Sunday, not a casual swim day. The swim is in Lake Tapps, the bike routes through Pierce County farmland, and the run heads into the foothills. If you live on the lake side, plan around road closures and a full parking lot.

Second, the race format is stacked so a single athlete can enter almost any distance they want. The day includes an Olympic tri, sprint, super-sprint, aquabike, and two relay categories. The relay category in particular makes this a reasonable "try it once" event for a group of neighbors who each want to do one leg.

Third, if you or someone in your household has already done the Black Diamond and Lake Meridian races this summer, the finisher award at Bonney Lake is the trilogy piece. That's the design intent of the season closer.

What's actually new to eat on 410

The SR 410 corridor gets dismissed as a functional errand strip, and fairly so. But the retail center at the east end of town added a real opening this year worth walking into.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue held its Bonney Lake grand opening on Feb. 28, with a ribbon-cutting attended by Mayor Terry Carter, and is located at 20621 Highway 410 East in the Bonney Lake Retail Market Center, open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The soft opening was actually earlier. The restaurant officially opened Tuesday, January 20.

The chain is a known quantity in the Islands and along the West Coast, but this is its 11th Washington location, and the menu leans into what the chain is known for: Plate Lunch offerings built around rice, macaroni salad, and a protein, with BBQ Mix, Chicken Katsu, Kalua Pork with Cabbage, Loco Moco, and Garlic Shrimp on the highlight list.

The franchise is run by cousins Robert Ramos and Ephraim Rollolazo, who operated a mobile food business for years serving concerts, community events, and county fairs across Washington before opening this location.

That last detail is worth sitting with for a second. The owners spent years feeding people at exactly the kind of events, Tunes at Tapps included in spirit, that anchor the Bonney Lake summer. They chose this town on purpose.

The rest of the calendar you already half-know

A few evergreen pieces that residents plan around every year, with 2026 specifics where they're locked in:

• Bonney Lake Days. The city's biggest summer festival at Allan Yorke Park each August, with stage shows, a fireworks display, kid activities, vendor booths, and a beer garden. It's the weekend that tests the shoreline parking lot to its limit.
• National Night Out. The first Tuesday in August, held at Allan Yorke Park, with a community-safety focus and, in past years, inflatables from Super Jump Rentals for kids.
• Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire. Held nearby at The Kelley Farm each summer. It's a short drive and it hits every August weekend.
• Tehaleh trails. The master-planned community's public trail network is open to anyone. Locals use it as a training ground in the run-up to the triathlon and as the "get out of the house" option when the park is crowded.

A quick note on Wednesday parking

The Allan Yorke lot fills earlier than newcomers expect during Tunes at Tapps. If you're pulling up at 6, you're already late to a good spot, and the concert doesn't start for another 30 minutes. Residents who go every week have their own personal rules: some show up at 4:45 with camping chairs, some walk in from the neighborhoods off West Tapps Highway, and some skip the parking question entirely by biking in on the trail from the north side of the lake. The point isn't to arrive early because the show demands it. It's that this is the weekly community touchpoint the town organizes around, and half the value of going is who you run into in the market before the music starts.

The through line

If you zoom out on all of it, one park does most of the work of summer in Bonney Lake. Allan Yorke handles the concert crowd on Wednesdays, the families on Mondays, the swimmers on July afternoons, the fireworks in August, and now the triathlon finish line at the end of the month. The 2026 addition of the RTB season finale changes the tail end of the season the same way L&L quietly changes the Wednesday-night dinner question. Neither is dramatic, but both are the kind of shift a resident notices and a search engine doesn't.
